Chitty Chitty Bang Bangs

Writer: Mariah ParsonsMariah Parsons

Life is crazy right now. Like, so crazy.

Alright, let's be real. The things happening in the world right now are absolutely insane but if I'm being honest, life hasn't drastically changed for me. Daniel's job is essential, FedEx. My job is essential, Mommy. *eye roll* The only difference is that I can't go to church or take my girls on little trips. (Which is actually killing me)

Before all this started, I made the decision to start grocery shopping at night so I could go alone (ALOOOOONE) and it would be faster. (Getting three kids in and out of the car multiple times is a pain in the brain) After Sedalia was born and I was able to get out, we went grocery shopping but I soon realized that if I put her car seat in a shopping cart like I'm supposed to, the cart can no longer house the amount of snacks we consume.

The major draw to shopping at night was the alone time; I explained this to Daniel when he asked why I wanted to go at night. I'm never alone. Babies when I wake, babies when I eat, babies when I try to sleep. I don't even get to use the bathroom alone. I'm a type 9, I need a bit of alone time. Quiet. Stillness. (Disclaimer, I love babies)

This brings me to my story. I went out for a thrilling night of grocery shopping, buying heaps of cheeze-its, bundles of apples and tubes of yogurt. I walked through the door after shopping and Daniel said, "We had a rough time while you were gone." I thought, "What's new? These girls aren't easy." He pointed me to the top of the microwave where I found a small lock of auburn hair and a pair of scissors.

After exclaiming, "Oh no!" I called Marilyn to see where she removed this hair from. As she walked in, I was shocked to see that the small lock was just a little teaser! A literal snippet from ground zero. This girl had given herself some crazy chitty chitty bang bangs. I mean, she looks ridiculous. Like the 70's met 2004 and had a nasty argument.

The left side of her head almost looks like it was done on purpose. Sensible even. But she turns to reveal the right side and tears of laughter, agony and confusion set in. Not only did she do jagged work, she decided that it was good to cut the entire front half of her hair.

Try as I may, she looks nuts. I've tried combing different ways, hairspray, clips, braids. I have now resigned to the fact that shes just going to look ridiculous for a while. Luckily she has hair like mine so the shorter parts of it curl over a bit.

So, here we are. Life is a bit crazy with these three girls because these girls are a bit crazy. Each of them have such fun personalities and not one is like the other. It's amazing and exhausting and wonderful! Every pair of scissors we own are now only reachable by Chewbacca but you know, kids are kids. They're silly, they're weird...oh well.
