We’re going to talk for a moment about how dumb Satan is because that just sounds like fun doesn't it!? A while ago I heard someone ask the question, "Does Satan know that he’s going to lose or does he actually think that he can beat God?" This question is so intriguing to me. I mean he hasn’t won yet. He has taken lost souls and twisted them but he has never actually won. Has he read the Bible at all or.....I'm here to tell you that he is just that dumb.
I would like to preface this by saying that no matter how ignorant or misguided Satan is, he is still very dangerous to our walk with God. His aim is to destroy you and while he cannot beat God, he can can beat you if you are without God. Attacks from the enemy should never be taken lightly.
Ok, lets get into this!
What level of ignorance does it take to actually be in heaven and in a high position and see the actual Glory of God and the unimaginable worship that He inspires and decide that you could do it better? I mean my brain is empty at that...
Here’s a scripture about God being more powerful than Satan.
“20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.” Romans 16:20
Nope, he definitely has not read the Bible. Either that or he's trying to prove it wrong. (Good luck your most lowness)
Satan even tried to give Jesus the kingdoms of the world which actually already belonged to Jesus. (One of thooose people or demons..? hm) Did Satan actually think they all belonged to him? I think he did, because he’s ignorant. (Another subject for another time, Jesus didn't correct him.) If God is not the author of confusion then where does it come from? (1 Corinthians 14:33) It comes from the devil. He is confusion because he is confused himself. He inflicts confusion on us to keep us from the peace of God.
One moment, I'm laughing too hard to type. He actually thinks that he can win. *Crying because that is the only way 'he' will ever be capitalized for the devil. Grammar nerd here.* Anyway...
This next scripture is long but bear with me. This is my absolute favorite story in the entire Bible.
" 5 They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. 2 And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. 3 He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, 4 for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones. 6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and fell down before him. 7 And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” 8 For he was saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” 10 And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, 12 and they begged him, saying, “Send us to the pigs; let us enter them.” 13 So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the sea." Mark 5:1-13
Wow, this scripture is so powerful and encouraging to me! Jesus didn't say a word. He didn't march in and proclaim loudly and earnestly until sweat poured from Him. All He did was show up. The demon(s) "saw Jesus from afar" and ran to Him, falling at his feet. They "begged", Jesus "gave them permission". The only power that Satan holds over you is what you allow. Demons tormented that man but in the face of Jesus they begged for mercy. All Jesus did was walk into the presence of powerful demons and they immediately recognized who He was and submitted to His power.
" 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7
Are you submitted to God? Because if you are, the enemy can't touch you; he’s afraid of the power of God. John 8:44 says that there is no truth in the devil because he is the father of lies. He holds no power over you. Yes, he is sneaky and deceiving and he can surly torment our minds and destroy our lives, but he holds no power.
But you do. All power in heaven and earth are in the name of Jesus and you have been given access to His name.
I have a challenge for you today. I want you to stop giving the devil credit. Everything negative that happens in your life is not by some scheme of the devil to ruin your day. Sometimes it’s just life. Sometimes it’s just the free will we’ve been given and through that we just need to choose God.
Stop exalting the name of Satan in your life. When you walk outside and it’s raining don’t say, “Not today Satan!” But instead thank God for the rain that sustains life. Don’t give the devil credit when you’re having a bad day but thank God that you get to try again tomorrow. Change who gets the credit. Give all the Glory, all the honor, and every ounce of your praise to the one who actually deserves it. Give it to God.
"29 Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God." Matthew 22:29
